Your Shower Could Be Ruining Your Hair
As strange as it may
seem the way you shower could actually be harmful for your hair. We know
we don’t get into the shower to ruin anything. In fact, on the
contrary, we assume that we are maintaining our system including our
hair fairly well when we enter the shower to treat them. There are
several ways in which your hair can get affected due to the shower.
While we all agree that the shower is the ideal soothing space for our
minds and bodies but when it comes to your hair, maybe it isn’t the best
place to be.

Here’s a look at what you could be doing wrong.
It could be habits, techniques or the water itself. The moment you know
how the shower is actually damaging your hair, you could adopt remedial
situations for the same.
The water is hard. The cleanliness of your hair
also depends upon the type of water. If the water is too hard, then get
ready for some mineral deposits in your hair that will lead to dryness,
breakage and hair loss. In such a situation, it is best to use a
chelating shampoo to remove the accumulation. In addition, you could
even have a filter fitted to the shower.
Shower water is just too hot. A hot shower
really helps. But that’s for the body. The greater the heat, the more
harmful it is for your hair. The scalp of the skin dries out completely
due to the hot water leading to flakiness and dandruff. Even if you wish
to use hot water for your body, let the hair be protected with a shower
cap. For hair use only cold water.
Too much showering is not good. Once again
there is a play between the body and the hair. A long shower may appease
your body but could weaken the cuticles of the hair. Because of the
large amount of water, the cuticles tend to swell up loosening the hair
strands. To add to it, if the water is also too hot, then the result is
certain hair loss.
Not showering properly is not good. Remove all
the accumulated debris on the hair and the scalp to cleanse it of
unwanted bacteria. Any remaining deposits will only deplete the health
of the hair making it dull, lifeless, which eventually breaks down.
The other shower mistakes that you make are
washing hair much too frequently, rinsing your hair with hot water, not
using the right kind of hair products during the shower, and applying
too much shampoo or scrubbing scalp too much.
