Things To Consider Before Having A Hair Transplant
When you are
experiencing balding or hair loss, a transplant is not the primary
remedy that comes to mind. You would rather choose other things over a
surgery. It is common to feel the way you do. But this, intertwined
with hope, leads individuals to opt for a hair transplantation surgery
as either the first or for many, even as the last resort to sport a head
full of hair. Besides, it would cost a lot of money to get a procedure
from a premiere hair transplant surgeon.
Hair loss medications are prescribed for some
kinds of reversible balding conditions. While the effectiveness of these
medications is questionable for conditions such as alopecia areata,
hair transplant procedures seem to offer a more promising solution to
hair loss. When the body’s auto-immune response breaks down and the hair
follicles don’t seem to spawn again. At the time hair transplants can
be deemed as the best solution.
But before you undergo a procedure here are some hair transplant precautions that you should take.
Types of hair transplant procedures
There are two types of transplant procedures
FUE and FUT. Follicular Unit Transplantations are also called the
‘strip’ method where strips of hair and skin are cut and removed to be
placed into the balding areas of the scalp. This is a slightly
traditional procedure compared to FUE or Follicular Unit Extraction. In
the FUE hair transplantation procedure, there are no scalp strips
involved. Instead, hair is harvested randomly from abundant areas and
placed in the balding areas. But out of the two, FUT involves a shorter
operating time. Also, FUE procedures are usually administered in smaller
cases of hair transplantation. That does not mean larger areas cannot
be covered.
